Job Title: Senior Puppet Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Puppet Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of reliable, cost-effective, and modern solutions in private and public cloud environments.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Puppet, including writing and managing manifests and modules, and a strong understanding of Linux operating systems (SLES, Ubuntu, RHEL). They will also have proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and Ruby, and experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and further develop the Puppet service (Puppet server infrastructure)
- Design, implement, and manage Puppet manifests, modules, and configurations to ensure desired state configurations
- Develop and maintain custom Puppet modules to automate repetitive tasks and configuration management
- Support and lead the IAC development of Linux blueprints based on Swiss Re IT governance
- Design, develop, implement, and enhance the Linux DevOps domain (LDAP, Puppet, CMDB)
- Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for infrastructure changes
- Focus on standardization and infrastructure automation
- Provide consultancy to internal customers on application onboarding and all relevant infrastructure topics
- Technically lead and contribute to application and infrastructure projects
- Support lifecycle projects (Puppet 8, Ubuntu, SLES, RHEL)

Requirements:
- Extensive experience with Puppet, including writing and managing manifests and modules
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems (SLES, Ubuntu, RHEL)
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and Ruby
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
- Experience with vulnerability scanning and security hardening of Linux systems
- Good packaging and software deployment knowledge, including a high level of security awareness
- Strong scripting skills and profound knowledge of interfaces and protocols
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience in Linux system administration and cloud infrastructure management
- Proven experience specifically working with Puppet for configuration management
- Puppet certification or equivalent hands-on experience
- Experience with other configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or SaltStack
